About Happy H Ranch
Happy H Ranch was purchased in 1971 by the late Guy and Shirley Hughes, and has since grown and developed into one of the most beautiful privately owned ranches in the Texas Hill Country. Mr. and Mrs. Hughes lived in the main residence for the remainder of their lives and made several significant improvements, such as construction of the Bunk Haus and guest quarters adjacent to the main residence. To add to the ranch's personality and pastoral feel, the Hughes decided to incorporate exotic wildlife and the family herd of Longtussi and Angus cattle which are complimented perfectly by an abundance of native wildlife and plants.
In 2003, Guy Hughes Sr. was diagnosed with cancer, and the idea of The Cross was born. His son, Bud Hughes, wanted a cross at the top of the hill to honor his father and his Christian beliefs. In 2004, Guy Senior and Bud, with the help of locals, built the 75-foot-tall Cross on Forgiveness Hill, which gave the ranch a one-of-a kind focal point and was a perfect addition to the already beautiful Hill Country skyline. Upon being pronounced cancer free, Guy Senior returned home to Happy H Ranch.
Today, the ranch is owned by Guy "Bud" and Julie Hughes. The rustic amenities and breathtaking views combined with the first class service of the professional staff make Happy H Ranch the perfect location for your next Texas wedding or Hill Country event.
It is our mission to provide guests with a unique opportunity to experience all the beauty and serenity that the Texas Hill Country has to offer with an array of services designed to accommodate private, civic, religious and corporate events with convenience and the hospitality that makes this region famous.
